Bio
Dr. Katey Arrington is serving in the presidential line for NCSM: Leadership in Mathematics Education, as President-elect September 2022 to October 2023, President from October 2023 to fall of 2025, and Past President from fall of 2025 to 2026. NCSM is the premiere mathematics education leadership organization which fosters bold leadership in the mathematics education community to develop vision, ensure support, and guarantee that all students engage in equitable, high-quality mathematical experiences that lead to powerful, flexible uses of mathematical understanding to affect their lives and to improve the world.
Katey is the Director of Systemic Transformation at the Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin. The Dana Center works to dismantle barriers in education systems to ensure each and every student have access to and success in an excellent education. In her role as Director, she is the primary lead for supporting systems change work in mathematics, science, and literacy.
Katey has extensive experience in designing and implementing system-level transformation across K-12 and higher education for increasing positive and equitable outcomes and leading networks for professional growth and learning.
Katey earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Policy and Planning through the Educational Leadership and Policy department at the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Mathematics Education and her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a Teaching Option through the UTeach program at The University of Texas.
