A former classroom teacher and district education consultant, Dr. Cathy Marks Krpan is a professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education where she teaches graduate courses in mathematics education. Cathy often presents to educators and school districts across North America, Asia, and Europe on effective teaching and learning strategies in mathematics. An award-winning author and educator, Cathy’s recent publication, Teaching Math with Meaning (Pearson Education Canada), explores practical ways to foster teacher and student self-efficacies in mathematics. She enjoys learning in classrooms alongside teachers, students, and curriculum leaders. Cathy is a recipient of the Margaret Sinclair Award, a national award that recognizes innovation and excellence in promoting mathematics education at the elementary, secondary, college or university level. She can often be seen in the early hours of the day loading up her car with many boxes of mathy things.
