Bio
As the High School Math Coordinator at Alvin Independent School District in Alvin, Texas, I am known for integrating innovative teaching methods in high school mathematics. With a 20-year career that began in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, I've evolved from teaching junior high mathematics to becoming a district coordinator. I actively contribute to the broader math education community through presentations at various conferences, focusing on mastery strategies, flexible RtI, student discourse, and small group instruction.
Currently, I'm finalizing my Ed.D at Texas A & M College Station, with a focus on secondary math teacher retention and recruitment. My educational background includes an M.Ed. in Secondary Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction and a B.A. in Economics. Beyond my academic and professional roles, I am actively involved in organizations such as the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics as President-elect and play a key role in recently launching the Houston Area Mathematics Leadership Network as President. My commitment to mathematics education is fueled by a continuous desire to learn and grow alongside my peers in the field.
