Bio
I began my teaching career in the farming community of Imperial Valley of California, then I moved to San Diego County where I taught grades 4-8. Because I began to understand math, through teaching, I acquired my single-subject, foundational credential for teaching mathematics and taught middle school mathematics for 9 years. In 2012, I completed my MA Ed. with an emphasis in K-8 Mathematics Education from San Diego State University.
I volunteer on the California Math Council, South (CMC-South) conference committee. I currently serve as the Vice President of CMC-south. I also serve as the San Diego Math Council (GSDMC) president. I enjoy sharing student-centered mathematics strategies with teachers across the country.
My topics focus on standards-based math games as a purposeful teaching strategy for sense-making for PK-10th grades.
