How Number Sense Leads To Algebraic Thinking. Students are smarter than they "think" they are. Knowing specific mathematical skills improves other mathematical knowledge and skills synchronously. Recognizing the need to broaden students' knowledge and understanding of basic mathematics operational abilities creates a concert for mathematical fluency development of other essential knowledge and skills simultaneously. By expanding students' awareness and the importance of number sense, algebraic thinking crescendos into a symphony of deeper understanding of mathematical processing, resulting in a harmony of student success in mathematical fluency in the language of math.
