Join TEA as we dive into understanding how mathematical models and algorithms progress through the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in elementary mathematics.  This session will start by diving into the mathematical process standards that support critical thinking and problem solving. Participants will then dig into the differences between models and algorithms, the progression of models that support conceptual understanding, and the foundations of procedural fluency. Participants will then collaborate to explore the specific models and algorithms within grade-level TEKS to determine how conceptual understanding progresses and procedural fluency in promoted.
