At the same time, because state exams focus on algebraic standards, the stats standards in Algebra I and Algebra II are rarely taught. How can we bring data literacy to Algebra I and Algebra II, without sacrificing test scores? In this session, we'll discuss contextual units - a framework for organizing algebra units based on exploring a compelling real-world context over multiple lessons. Then, we'll share free lesson materials that use this strategy to seamlessly integrate data literacy into Algebra I and Algebra II, without sacrificing the algebraic fluency and practice that students need for state exams.
