Description
While teaching at a Title I school on the southside of San Antonio, Dash Young-Saver threw out his traditional AP Stats curriculum and created lessons on topics that his students cared about: voter power, food deserts, the Spurs’s chance at winning the NBA title, online dating, and more. That year, in a region where traditionally 2% of students passed the AP exam, 42% of his students passed. He later created more relevant lessons for Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, posting them all online for free. In this session, Dash will showcase these lessons and discuss what's possible when we make math what it already is: relevant.
