Description
In this session we will focus on creating mathematical problems that are open in nature (have more than one answer) and can be solved in more than one way. The goal is to craft problems that lend themselves to discussion and exploration. After the value of such problems is discussed and examples given, participants will have time to practice, with their peers, taking traditional problems from the middle and high school curriculum and re-writing them as open problems that encourage math talk and exploration. Participants will share their work with others.
