This session delves into how The Math Pact promotes equity in math education by fostering consistency and shared strategies across grade levels. Let's explore how to implement inclusive practices that ensure equitable learning opportunities for all students. Participants will explore effective strategies to overcome teacher resistance, strengthen collaboration, and build a supportive environment that encourages equitable success for every learner. Participants will learn how to implement The Math Pact to establish consistent, equitable math instruction across grades. I will share strategies for building teacher collaboration, aligning language and notation, and fostering a cohesive instructional approach. The session includes activities for developing a Mathematics Whole School Agreement (MWSA) and overcoming resistance. Teachers will leave with tools and action steps to foster coherence and improve student outcomes. Participants will then discuss why equitable mathematics instruction is important and relevant through the lens of NCTM’s Catalyzing Change series. The session emphasizes aligning mathematical language, notation, and teaching practices across grade levels to ensure consistent student understanding. By adopting a Mathematics Whole School Agreement, participants will explore practical steps to improve coherence in math instruction and enhance student success. Key content will include strategies for building buy-in, aligning instruction, and fostering equity in mathematics classrooms.
