Description
This workshop is designed to empower 6th and 7th grade math teachers with strategies to implement the Concrete, Representational, Abstract (CRA) approach for teaching fractions. CRA is a research-based method that helps students build a solid conceptual foundation by moving them from concrete manipulatives to abstract mathematical reasoning. Participants will engage in a hands-on model lesson, learning how to integrate fraction manipulatives into instruction on fraction operations to enhance student comprehension. By the end of the workshop, teachers will have ready-to-use lesson plans and a clear understanding of how manipulatives can facilitate the transition to abstract thinking, not just supplement instruction.
